Britney Spears Las Vegas residency at The Axis at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino was a massive success. It grossed around $140 million dollars and sold 900,000 tickets with a mind-boggling 250 shows. She’s considered one of the top performers in the world next to Cher, Garth Brooks, and Elton John to name a few.
Britney is my age. She’s one year older than I am. I grew up with her. I would skip class in high school to binge MTV and I remember vividly watching the debut of Baby One More Time. The catholic school girl outfit was Britney’s suggestion and is iconic and synonymous with pop and MTV in the 90s.
I and the entire world watched everything she did. What she wore, who she dated, what she ate. Paparazzi stalked her as she shopped or drove her car or went to the beach. I bought US Weekly magazines just for the candid pap shots of Britney eating a bag of Cheetos.
When Britney began dating Kevin Federline in 2004 I was living in Vancouver, WA, and was 21 years old. She was 22. I had watched her on Ellen as she demonstrated her sit-up routine and was dedicated to doing the same every morning. I had printed out a photo of her and her abs (using an actual printer) and posted it to the refrigerator for inspiration.
